The 1995/96 season was a year of beautiful football and near-misses for Celtic FC under manager Tommy Burns.

Led by creative talents like John Collins, Phil O’Donnell, and striker Pierre van Hooijdonk, Celtic played some of the most attractive football in Scotland. Van Hooijdonk finished as the club’s top scorer with 26 goals in all competitions.

Celtic went unbeaten at home in the league and only lost once all season in the Scottish Premier Division — but drew too many games, finishing second to rivals Rangers, who completed a domestic double.

Despite not lifting silverware, the campaign is fondly remembered for its flair, passion, and the iconic Umbro kit featuring the oversized Celtic crest embedded into the hoops — a visual emblem of pride and identity.
