The 2016/17 season was Giovanni Simeone’s breakout year in European football. Joining Genoa from River Plate, the young Argentine striker quickly adapted to Serie A with his relentless pressing, sharp movement, and instinctive finishing.
Simeone scored 12 goals in 35 league appearances, including a memorable brace against Juventus in Genoa’s stunning 3–1 victory. His energy and determination made him a fan favourite at the Marassi and one of Serie A’s most promising young forwards.
